Shubman Gill’s heroic knock helped Gujarat beat Punjab

Chandigarh: Shubman Gill’s brilliant innings helped Gujarat Titans beat Punjab Kings by six wickets in a very tight match of the INDIAN Premier League (IPL) held at the PCA Stadium in Mohali.

Shubman Gill of Mohali, playing for the Gujarat team, played a brilliant innings of 67 runs in 49 balls to ensure Gujarat’s victory. He hit seven fours and a six and stayed on the crease till the last over. Chasing Punjab Kings’ score of 153 for eight, Gujarat Titans scored 154 runs for the loss of four wickets in 19.5 overs.

For Gujarat, Saha scored 30 runs, Sai Sudarshan scored 19 runs, captain Hardik Pandya scored eight runs. David Miller remained unbeaten on 17 and Rahul Tawatia remained unbeaten on five. Arshdeep Singh, Kagiso Rabada, Sam Curran and Harpreet Brar took one wicket each. Earlier, Gujarat Titans won the toss and decided to bowl first.

The Punjab Kings batsmen could not perform well in front of Gujarat’s excellent bowling. Punjab Kings players scored the first 50 runs in 34 balls but played 54 balls to score the next 50 runs. Opener Prabhsimran Singh was dismissed in the first over without scoring a run. Skipper Shikhar Dhawan also scored just eight runs in eight balls.

Apart from this, M Short scored 36 runs in 24 balls, Rajapaksh scored 20 runs in 26 balls, Jitesh Kumar scored 25 runs in 23 balls, Sam Curran scored 22 runs in 22 balls, Shah Rukh Khan scored 22 runs in 9 balls, Rishi Dhawan scored one run and Harpreet Brar scored 8 runs in five balls. Among gujarat titans bowlers, Mohammed Sammi took one wicket for 44 runs in four overs, Little took one wicket for 31 runs in four overs, A Joseph took one wicket for 32 runs in four overs.
