SGPC gives Rs 1 crore reward to Indian men’s hockey team

 

Amritsar: After bringing laurels to the country in the Tokyo Olympics, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) on Wednesday gave an award of Rs 1 crore to the Indian men’s hockey team for winning the bronze medal in the Olympics.

11 players of the men’s and women’s hockey national teams were accorded a rousing welcome upon their arrival at the Sri Guru Ramdas Jee International airport in Amritsar and later they visited the Golden Temple to pay their obeisance .

SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur also announced and said that other players who are participating individually in the Olympics will also be awarded Rs 5 lakh each.

“We all are proud of the Indian hockey as the medal had come after 41 years,” she said.
