New Delhi: In a big jolt for ruling BJP in poll-bound Uttar Pradesh, a prominent OBC leader Swami Prasad Maurya has resigned from the state Cabinet while three MLAs announced they were quitting the party, to join the Samajwadi Party.
A five-time MLA from Padrauna, Maurya held the Labour portfolio un the BJP and cited grave oppression of Dalits, OBCs, farmers, unemployed and small businessmen under CM Yogi Adityanath as the reason behind his resignation.
Following his resignation, three MLAs, Roshan Lal Verma (Shahjahanpur), Brijesh Prajapati (Tindwari) and Bhagwati Sagar (Bilhaur), also left the party in “Maurya’s support and likely to join SP party today.
