Sania Mirza to retire from tennis next month

New Delhi: Indian star Sania Mirza has announced her retirement from her professional tennis career. She will retire in February this year. The Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships will be Sania Mirza’s last tournament.

She had announced her retirement last year as well. However, she later withdrew her declaration due to injury. The 36-year-old Sania Mirza will play at this year’s first Grand Slam Australian Open in January.

She will compete in the doubles of the Australian Open. After this, she will say goodbye to tennis by playing the championship to be held in Dubai. The Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships will begin on February 19. Sania has won a total of 6 Grand Slams. In Grand Slam doubles, she has won the Australian Open (2016), Wimbledon (2015) and the US Open (2015).

Apart from this, she has also won three Grand Slam australian open (2009), French Open (2012) and US Open (2014) titles in mixed doubles.
