Chandigarh: Hours after the Punjab and Haryana High ordered the immediate release of former DGP Sumedh Singh Saini, Punjab Cabinet Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa on Friday demanded the removal of three top officers of the government blaming them for the failure in this case.
He urged Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh Minister to remove Advocate General, Home Secretary and Chief Director Vigilance, for their professional incompetence.
High Court has directed the Vigilance Bureau to release former Director-General of Police Sumedh Singh Saini within 24-hour after his arrest.
High court observed that Saini’s arrest was violation of Court’s previous order dated October 11, 2018 and September 23, 2020 and anticipatory bail order on August 12 this year in which court had directed the issuance of seven day advance notice to Saini in case action was contemplated against him.
The orders by Justice Arun Kumar Tyagi of the High Court came at about 11:40 pm after observing the case.
