Mumbai: A big statue of cricketer Sachin Tendulkar will be installed at the Wankhede Stadium here. Tendulkar started his cricketing career from this stadium under the leadership of coach Ramakant Achrekar.
In the year 2011, India also won the World Cup at the Wankhede Stadium. It was at the same stadium that Tendulkar bid adieu to cricket after playing his 200th Test against the West Indies in 2013.
The statue will be inaugurated on April 24 when Sachin Tendulkar turns 50. On this occasion, Tendulkar said that he felt a sense of surprise when the Mumbai Cricket Association informed him about the installation of his statue at the Wankhede Stadium.
