Mumbai: The rupee today firmed up by 17 paise to close at 79.82 against the US dollar after going down to a record low.
Foreign exchange traders said the rupee has also strengthened due to increased foreign capital investment by foreign investors.
The rupee opened at Rs 79.95 per dollar and was moved to an all-time high of Rs 79.82 to an all-time low of Rs 79.96 during the trade.
In the end, the rupee firmed up 17 paise, to close at 79.82. Yesterday, the rupee had stood at a record high of Rs 79.99 per dollar.
