Rahul Gandhi disqualified as Lok Sabha MP after Surat court verdict

New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s Parliament membership was canceled on Friday. He was a Lok Sabha member from Wayanad in Kerala.

The Lok Sabha Secretariat has issued a letter giving information about this. In the defamation case, a Surat court sentenced him to 2 years in jail at 12.30 pm on Thursday.

On July 11, 2013, the Supreme Court had ruled that an MP or MLA would be disqualified from the date of conviction by the trial court.
