Punjab Police claim Amritpal Singh arrested, not surrenders in Moga

Chandigarh: Punjab Police spokesperson IG Sukhchain Singh Gill claimed to have arrested the absconder Amritpal Singh from a gurdwara in Village Rode in Moga district at 6.45 am today.

Meanwhile, some pictures have gone viral on social media showing Amritpal wearing a white traditional dress when he was taken into custody by the police. A video has also gone viral in which Amritpal Singh, while addressing the sangat at the gurdwara of village Rode, has said that he started surrendering before the police.

In this regard, IG Gill said that the police had received information that Amritpal was hiding in the gurdwara of village Rode. After this, the gurdwara was surrounded and the Sikh maryada was also taken care of. Amritpal was arrested after all escape routes were blocked.

Amritpal Singh sent to Dibrugarh jail in Assam

After Amritpal was arrested by the police, a convoy of Punjab Police and military personnel took him to Bhasiana Air Force Station in Bathinda today. He has been sent to Dibrugarh jail in Assam by a special aircraft.
