People with criminal records won’t be allow take part in SGPC elections

Amritsar: In a fresh decision, SGPC management has decided that candidate with a criminal record will not be allowed to participate in its elections.

The SGPC is also considering to reduce the age of voters from 21 to 18 years for the elections.

Therefore, The Chief Commissioner of Punjab Government Gurdwara Elections Surinder Singh Saron has been allotted an office in Sector-17 as well as special security has been given to him.

Regarding these elections, he says he will recommend to the central government for these changes, as the rule will be implemented only after getting the centre’s nod.

He said that last time the SGPC elections were held in 2011. This time preparations for the said elections have been started.

Both Central and state government is gearing up for the SGPC this time and polls would witness the interesting contests.
