NIA’s action against smugglers, gangsters: Raids at 50 places including Punjab

Chandigarh: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) today carried out searches at 40 locations in Punjab, Delhi, Haryana and Rajasthan. The raids have been carried out to end the emerging nexus of terrorists, gangsters and drug smugglers in India and abroad.

The NIA also knocked on the houses of lawyers who are fighting the cases of lawyers gangsters. The investigating team reached the house of advocate Shaili Sharma at around 6 am today and questioned the woman lawyer for about three hours.

The NIA team also took away the lawyer’s mobile phone with them. Earlier on October 14, the probe agency had carried out searches at several places, including in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, in connection with the drone case.

According to the NIA, no arrests have been made in the case so far.

In the last nine months, 191 drones have arrived from neighbouring Pakistan. This is a very worrying situation for the internal security of the country.
