National Herald case: Cong workers stage protest, Rahul Gandhi to appear before ED

New Delhi: Ahead of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s appearance before the ED on Monday in the National Herald case, the party today launched a scathing attack on the Central government, accusing it of misusing the Enforcement Directorate to hide its failures.

The Congress has decided to tackle the issue politically and legally. The Congress will hold demonstrations across the country tomorrow against the Centre. Senior party leaders will take out a march along with Rahul to the ED office on Monday.

The Congress said, “When the watchman of the country failed in his duty to protect the borders of the country, he has approached the ED to hide his failures. But we will not allow the country’s security to be threatened. The party said the people of the country are raising their voice against the hatred instigated by the BJP.

“Now the ED is being used to silence this voice. But our voice cannot be suppressed. Our fight will continue. The Congress has said that these cases are politically motivated. The ED has summoned Rahul Gandhi on Monday and Congress President Sonia Gandhi on June 23. Meanwhile, in Bhopal, Congress leader Digvijaya Singh said there was no evidence of corruption in the National Herald case. He said it was an attempt to put political pressure on Sonia and Rahul Gandhi.
