Jet engine fails; flight makes emergency landing in Amritsar

Chandigarh: Passengers of an Amritsar-Kolkata IndiGo flight had a narrow escape from an accident at the Rajasansi International Airport in Amritsar last night when one of its engines failed about four minutes after take-off.

The plane had to make an emergency landing at International Airport in Amritsar after the crew found out.

According to the information received, at 10.24 pm last night, when the IndiGo Airlines plane reached an altitude of 5000 feet from the ground, the crew got signs of one of its engines being shut down.

After this, the concerned departments, including the airport, were immediately informed about this. The crew cautiously diverted the plane to the airport and after 16 minutes, the plane landed safely at the airport.

After landing again at the airport, the plane was re-checked and taken to the parking lot. There were 122 passengers and six staff members on board the Kolkata-bound flight. A major accident was averted due to the crew’s ingenuity
