Jalandhar police solve Manappuram Finance robbery case

JALANDHAR: The Commissionerate Police have cracked the sensational heist at Manappuram Finance in Urban Estate, where huge quantity Gold and cash worth Rs. 2.34 lakh was looted on July 24.

Commissioner of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that the police have arrested one accused identified as Parshant Kumar resident of village Bilgam in Samastipur district of Bihar, who along with his cousin Deepak and other aides had committed the robbery and fled away.

He said that the teams have also recovered a motorbike with fake number plate, which was used in the crime. The Police have also identified the other gang members involved in the loot and was in close coordination with Bihar Police to arrest the remaining accused, said Bhullar.

In preliminary investigation Prashant revealed that he had been working as mason and fitting floor tiles in Sultanpur Lodhi, where he was residing along with family since one and half year. The Commissioner of Police said that Deepak along with his accomplices having three bikes and one car approached Prashant on July 15, 2021 and the former arranged a rented accommodation for them. After that they plotted the robbery and executed their plan.

Bhullar said that all of them rushed into the branch of Mannapuram Finance around 3 pm on July 24, where they took the entire staff to the gunpoint and pushed them into the safe room. After that they looted gold in huge quantity and cash worth Rs. 2.34 lakh and get away with that. The police thoroughly probed the robbery from all aspects technically and got a lead to catch the accused.

“Our teams started tracing the accused and their whereabouts through technical and human intelligence and finally reached the Mohalla Jawala Singh Nagar in Sultanpur Lodhi”, he added.

The police have also traced another hideout of accused persons in Garshankar in Hoshiarpur district, where the accused had stayed for a while after the robbery; the building belongs to Amarjit Singh, a resident of village Fatehpur.

CP said that the police teams would apprehend the other accused soon.
