India’s football captain Sunil Chhetri made it to the special list with Ronaldo-Messi, honored by FIFA

New Delhi: Indian football team captain Sunil Chhetri has been honoured by releasing a three-episode series on his life and career. One of India’s most successful footballers, Chhetri is the country’s all-time top goal scorer and most match-playing player. He has scored 84 goals in 131 official international matches since his debut against Pakistan on June 12, 2005, behind Messi’s 90 and Ronaldo’s 117.

FIFA tweeted from its official handle, “You know all about Ronaldo and Messi, now get the definitive story of the third highest scoring active men’s international. Sunil Chhetri Captain Fantastic is available on FIFA+ now.”

Currently, the 38-year-old captain is the third most active international goalscorer behind the legends of the game of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

The first episode of the series will look at Chhetri’s debut and the early days of his football career.

The second episode tells the story of Chhetri’s early days with the national team, realising his dream of playing professional football. The third and final episode shows how Chhetri reaches the heights of his professional and personal life. FIFA had also released a documentary on Brazilian and Barcelona legend Ronaldinho and England legend Gary Lineker.
