Indian-American entrepreneur dies after fire breaks out at her cottage

Houston: In a shocking incident, a 32-year-old Indian-American entrepreneur and her dog perished in a fire at Dix Hills Cottage in Long Island, New York. The incident took place on December 14.

Tanya Bathija Bathija, an MBA post graduate in Accounting and Finance, died on the spot. The flames were so intense that police officials could not enter the house.

The patrolling officials were informed about this at 2:53 pm.

Meanwhile, the Suffolk County Police Department has denied any criminal conspiracy in the case.

“Tanya Bathija lived in a cottage behind her parents’ home on Carlos,” the Suffolk Police Department said.

Bathija’s father Gobind Bathija was on his way to exercise in the morning when he noticed the fire and immediately dialled 911, police said.

A spokesman for the Dix Hills Fire Department said more than 60 firefighters and rescuers had been dispatched to douse the blaze.
