Hours before arrest ex-DGP Saini moved High court for relief

Chandigarh: Hours before former Director General of Police Sumedh Singh Saini’s arrested by Vigilance Bureau, Saini had moved before the Punjab and Haryana High Court seeking directions for extension of blanket bail to him in all cases.

The matter is scheduled for hearing on Thursday morning before High Court Justice Arun Kymar Tyagi.

Former cop had moved the High Court in November last year also for extending the protection granted by the High Court, vide order dated October 11, 2018, to “any incident pertaining to the entire service career of the applicant/petitioner”.

He was arrested by the Vigilance Bureau on Wednesday in an ongoing corruption case of corruption and some others. He was facing allegations of human rights abuse during terrorism in Punjab, is also facing two murder cases. Punjab police to produce him before the court to seek his production.
