Govt researching link between Covid and heart attack, says Health Minister

New Delhi: Is there a connection between Covid and heart attack? After the Corona period, many people have this question in their minds. The country’s Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya replied to this question during a TV interview.

He said that the government is doing research. The report will come in 2-3 months.

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said that Covid is a virus that keeps changing. So far, 214 variants have been found in India. Arrangements for ICU beds, oxygen supply and other critical care have been made, he said. The minister said that preparations to deal with Corona are being reviewed weekly.

The minister explained that it is impossible to predict how Covid will behave, but the sub-variants, which are currently leading up to new cases, are not as dangerous.

“We saw a lot of young artists, athletes, sportspersons, they died on stage while performing. We all saw this and reports started coming from many places. In such a situation, we needed to investigate whether there is any connection between Corona and heart attack.”

On the possible fourth wave of the Corona epidemic, the Health Minister said that there is a need to be vigilant. He said the previous Covid mutation was the BF.7 sub-variant of omicron, and now the XBB1.16 sub-variant is causing a surge in infections. He, however, added that in the ministry’s experience, the sub-variants are not very dangerous.

Mandaviya said the CoWIN platform has provided all the vaccination data, which has helped a lot and revealed that the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has been studying the link between heart stroke and Covid for the last three-four months, and this study will be completed in the next two months.
