Chandigarh: The Punjab government has declared April 27 as a state holiday as a mark of grief over the demise of former Chief Minister and political leader Baba Bohar Parkash Singh Badal yesterday. All government offices, board corporations and educational institutions in Punjab will remain closed tomorrow.
Earlier in the day, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) senior leadership left for the party office with the mortal remains of former chief minister Parkash Singh Badal in an ambulance of Fortis Hospital, adorned with flowers, at 10.10 am. During this time, the slogans of Badal’s ‘Amar Rahe’ kept echoing. Badal breathed his last at around 8.15 pm at Fortis Hospital in Mohali. He was admitted to the medical ICU here.
