Four Nihangs injured after bloody clash at a gurdwara in Kapurthala

Chandigarh: A dispute broke out between two groups of Nihangs at Gurdwara Sri Bavian Sahib on Amritsar Road in Kapurthala on Monday morning. In this, each other was attacked with kirpans. Four people were injured in the clash.

All of them have been admitted to the Civil Hospital in Kapurthala. One of the injured has been referred to Amritsar Medical College due to his deteriorating condition. SP-investigation Harvinder Singh, who reached the spot, said the case is being investigated on the basis of CCTV footage.

There was a long-standing dispute over the management of Gurdwara Sri Bavian Sahib on Amritsar Road in Kapurthala. Recently, the responsibility of ‘sewa’ was handed over to Baba Major Singh, the head of the Tarana Dal.

According to information from sources, on Monday morning, two Nihang came to Gurdwara Sahib and started creating ruckus. After exchanging heated arguments, both group clashed and four people were injured in the incident.

The injured have been identified as Kamaljit Singh (Ginni Bawa), Manjeet Bahadur Singh Bawa, Davinder Kaur and Simranjit Singh. All of them have been admitted to the emergency ward of the civil hospital.

Ginni Bawa has been referred to Amritsar Medical College due to serious condition by duty doctors. Ginni Bawa is the younger brother of Kapurthala Municipal Improvement Trust chairman Gurpal Singh.
