Chandigarh: Former Punjab Chief Minister and Shiromani Akali Dal patron Parkash Singh Badal passed away today.
For the past few days, Badal has been admitted to the ICU of Fortis Hospital in Mohali. His condition was stated to be stable for the past several days and he took his last breath on Tuesday late evening.
Badal was CM of Punjab from 1970 to 1971, from 1977 to 1980, from 1997 to 2002, and from 2007 to 2017. He is also the patron of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), a Sikh-centered regional political party. He also remained President of Akali Dal from 1995 to 2008, when he was replaced by his son Sukhbir Singh Badal.
