Chandigarh: Former Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal was cremated at his native village here today. Tight security arrangements were made at the venue where a large number of people had gathered on the occasion. Badal’s pyre was lit by his son Sukhbir Singh Badal and other members.
Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Punjab Congress president Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, National Conference leader Omar Abdullah, Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala and other dignitaries were present on the occasion. Punjab Police personnel saluted Badal by brandishing weapons.
