Chandigarh: Speaking in the Assembly after moving the confidence motion on the first day of the Punjab Assembly session, CM Bhagwant Mann had alleged that former Chief Minister Charanjit Channi took several decisions in the last days of his tenure and many of them were anti-people. He said Channi had fled abroad after the change of government and he has many files being signed by Channi, which were signed hurriedly before ending the term.
On this matter, former CM Charanjit reacted sharply and said that he is currently in US and is undergoing treatment for his eyes.
“CM Mann can question me anytime and my phone is open 24 hours.” He said that he is undergoing treatment in the US.
Former CM Channi said that the government has not tried to contact him. He is ready to answer every question of the government.
CM Bhagwant Mann had said in the House that after the formation of the Aam Aadmi Party government, he came to know about those files, which were signed by the then Channi government at the last minute.
“I want to ask Charanjit Singh Channi where he is, where he has gone after the elections. Why did he run away? Some people say he is in Canada and some say he is in the US.” Mann said that he is hiding that means that he did something wrong.
Channi, however, said he was ready to answer every question of the government. He also said that he had gone to congratulate Bhagwant Mann on becoming CM and met him for half an hour. He said that he had told the CM at that time that he could contact me about anything but no one contacted Channi, however, said he was ready to answer every question of the government.
