Fire breaks out in migrant labourer’s hut in in Mullanpur, 2 children killed, 4 admitted to PGI

Ludhiana: In a tragic incident, six children were charred to death after a migrant labourer’s hut caught fire in the adjoining Mandiyani village last night. Two children, who were badly injured, have died, while mother Sunita managed to bring four children out of the strong flames by playing on her own life.

The severely injured children were admitted to the Civil Hospital in Ludhiana but in view of their serious condition, the doctors have also referred them to Chandigarh.

Four injured children are admitted to PGI, out of which the condition of two is quite critical. Bhudan, a migrant labourer, had gone to work as a labourer at night and was sleeping in the slum along with his mother Sunita Bachiya.

The fire caused by the sudden fall of the lamp saved everything in a few moments. The death of Briju (2) and Shukla (3) has been confirmed.

The children, including Parveen (8), Komal (6), Aman (4) and Radhika , have been admitted to PGI in the ambulance of the village. Of these, the condition of Parveen and Komal is said to be critical. Four-month-old Indu, who slept in her mother’s lap, has survived.
