Doha: Defending champions France advanced to the quarter-finals of the FIFA World Cup with a 3-1 win over Poland here today. For France, the team’s star player Kylian Mbappe scored two goals while Olivier Giroud scored one goal. For Poland, Lewandowski opened the team’s account in the extra time (90+9) of the second half.
For France, Olivier Giroud scored in the 44th minute and Kylian Mbappe in the 74th minute and extra time (90+1) of the second half. During the match, France occupied 55 percent of football, while Poland had 45 percent possession. In the quarter-finals, France will now face the winner of the match between England and Senegal.
