Farmer’s son creates history, Neeraj Chopra cliches gold for India in Javelin Throw

Jalandhar: Ending over 100 year-old drought for India in Men’s Javelin Throw, a farmer’s son from Khandra village in Haryana won gold medal in Tokyo Olympics 2020.
Chopra scripted history by winning the elusive medal, which the likes of late Milkha Singh and PT Usha let it slip from their grasp in 1964 and 1984 editions. Chopra hurled the javelin at 88.58m to break his own national record
Indian athletics starved of a medal winner after Norman Pritchard claimed the 200m silver on July 22, 1900.
The 23-year-old managed a gigantic throw of 86.65m to top the qualification round and he was one of the favourites to clinch a podium before start of the match on Saturday.
