Farmers announce to close toll plazas from Dec 15 in Punjab

Chandigarh: The Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee Punjab has taken a strong stand against the Punjab government for not addressing to the farmers during the ongoing dharnas in front of the deputy commissioners’ offices across Punjab. Under this, the organization will make the toll plaza slip free from December 15 to January 15 across the state after a memorandum to the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha members on December 5, gherao of DC offices on December 7 and gherao of state government ministers and MLAs on December 12.

Sarwan Singh Pandher, state general secretary and Gurbachan Singh Chaba, state leader of the organisation, said that in a meeting of the state committee of the organization last evening, it was decided to intensify the action against the poor attitude of the government towards public issues. He said that on December 5, memorandums will be given to Lok Sabha members so that they can raise people’s demands in the session.

After this, on December 7, four-hour dharnas will be held at the gates of DC offices. It has been decided to make the roads toll-free for the general public from December 15 to January 15.

Pertinently, the protest by the farmers’ organisation in front of the DC office here continued for the 9th day today.
