Jalandhar: Former Congress councillor Sushil Kalia alias Vicky, a close aide of MLA Bawa Henry, committed suicide after consuming poisonous substance in Jalandhar on Saturday.
Police said that councillor Sushil Kalia has passed away. They have recovered a suicide note. Police said that action will be taken accordingly as the family members record their statements.
Former Councillor Susheel Kalia alias Vicky from ward number 64 has written a note before committing suicide. The family has handed over the suicide note to the police. In the suicide note, Kalia has named former MLA KD Bhandari, Rajkumar, his wife Anju, Akash Sharma, Jatindra Chopra, Ginni Chopra resident Shiv Nagar, Rajan Sharja, his daughter Kritika, Ashwini, Vinod all resident Bhagat Singh Colony, Rakesh Malhotra resident Industrial Area and Jai Mahendru.
Last year, a case of corruption was registered against Sushil Kalia, son Anshuman and relatives of the Henry family. Sushil Kalia and his family members were accused of misusing MLA funds.
Sushil Kalia had taken bail from the Punjab and Haryana High Court in the case, but his son did not get bail from the High Court. After this, the bail matter reached the Supreme Court, but there was no relief there too.
