Ex-minister Dharamsot arrested in disproportionate asserts case by vigilance

Chandigarh: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau on Monday arrested former minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot on charges of amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income during a drive against corruption in the state.

Disclosing this here an official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said that after the ongoing investigation into the matter, the VB has registered a case under sections 13(1)(b), 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act at VB Range Police Station Mohali and arrested former Punjab Minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot in a case of amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of wealth.

Giving further details, he further informed that during the investigation conducted from 01-03-2016 to 31-03-2022, the income of the above mentioned former Minister and his family was Rs. 2,37,12,596.48/- while the expenditure was Rs. 8,76,30,888.87/- which was Rs. 6,39,18,292.39/-. That is, he was 269 percent more than his known sources of income.

He added that further investigation into the matter was underway to find out more assets of the former minister. Dharamsot will be produced before a Mohali court tomorrow.
