Delhi professor professor arrested for post on ‘Shivling’

New Delhi: The Delhi Police arrested Ratan Lal, associate professor of Delhi University’s Hindu College for his objectionable social media post about the ‘Shivling’ found inside the Gyanvapi mosque complex in Varanasi. Lal has been arrested under Sections 153A and 295A of the Indian Penal Code, they said.

An FIR was lodged against Lal on Tuesday night based on a complaint by a Delhi-based lawyer. In his complaint, advocate Vineet Jindal said Lal recently shared a derogatory, provocative tweet on the Shivling that hurtled religious sentiments of Hindus.
