Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to hold advisory committee meeting to discuss Agneepath Scheme

New Delhi: Even though the protest of youngsters has diminished regarding the Agnipath Scheme, but all the opposition parties, including the Congress, are constantly opposing it.

Considering the attitude of the Opposition, in the Monsoon Session of the Parliament which is going to start from July 18, it is believed that there will be a commotion in the Parliament on this issue.

However, before the start of the session, the government is going to face the questions of the opposition on this issue.

A meeting of the Consultative Committee attached to the Ministry of Defense has been called on July 8. The meeting will be chaired by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh.

According to the information, the agenda of this meeting is Agneepath Scheme. It is believed that in the meeting, the MPs will be given detailed information about the Agneepath scheme on behalf of the Ministry of Defense.

Information of the members of the Advisory Committee

The Chairman of the Advisory Committee is the concerned Minister of that Ministry. The committee currently has 13 Lok Sabha MPs and 7 Rajya Sabha MPs as members. This committee attached to the Ministry of Defense includes several senior leaders of the Opposition as members. These include 20 MPs including Mallikarjun Kharge, Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary, Sudip Bandopadhyay, Manish Tiwari, Farooq Abdullah and Rakesh Singh.

 

Will seek answers from the government on doubts

In such a case, it is decided that the opposition MP in the committee will ask questions from the government regarding the scheme and will seek clarification from the government on their doubts. The Consultative Committee is constituted by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs and differs from the Standing Committee of Parliament in the sense that the Chairman of this Committee is the Minister of that Ministry.
