Dalai Lama apologises to child and his family after video controversy

New Delhi: The Dalai Lama has apologized in the viral video case. He said that he apologizes to the boy and his family for the hurt caused by his words.

A video of the Dalai Lama kissing a child’s lips and then asking him to “suck his tongue” has sparked a controversy.

In the video that has gone viral on social media, the child can be seen asking him to do so when he bowed down to pay respect to the spiritual leader. After its video surfaced, there were very sharp reactions on social media.

In the video, Buddhist monks are seen pulling out their tongue and asking the child to suck it. He is heard asking the minor boy in the video, “Can you suck my tongue?” In this sequence, the Dalai Lama has apologized.

The Dalai Lama had sparked a major controversy in 2019 by saying that if his successor would be a woman, she should be “attractive”. The Dalai Lama’s remarks drew criticism across the world. He later apologised for his controversial comments.
