Ottawa: Due to vigilance of staff members, two packages containing prohibited and unauthorized items were seized at Archambault Institution, a multi-level security federal institution.
The prohibited and unauthorized items seized included 500 grams of hashish, 500 grams of tobacco, two cell phones, USB cables and chargers. The total estimated institutional value of these seizures is $56,000.
The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) uses a number of tools to prevent drugs from entering its institutions. These tools include ion scanners and drug-detector dogs to search buildings, personal property, inmates, and visitors.
