BJP MLA’s son caught accepting Rs 6 crore in Karnataka

Bangalore: A day after he was caught accepting a bribe of Rs 40 lakh from a contractor, the Lokayukta police have recovered Rs 6 crore in cash from the house of Prashant Kumar, son of BJP MLA Madal Virupakshappa.

Prashant, the chief accounts officer of the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board, was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 40 lakh from a contractor at the karnataka soap and detergent limited (KSDL) office, Lokayukta sources said.

Sources said that Virupakshappa is the chairman of KSDL and Prashant was allegedly taking the ‘first instalment’ of the bribe on behalf of his father.

The police personnel also recovered three bags full of cash from the KSDL office. Lokayukta sleuths raided Prashant’s house soon after he was caught.
