Bikram Majithia to Contest Against Navjot Singh Sidhu on Amritsar East Seat

Amritsar: The Temple town of Amritsar is set to witness a high-voltage contest in the upcoming Punjab Assembly polls as SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia to contest against Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu on Amritsar East seat.

Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal on Wednesday announced this here in a press conference.

Majithia, a former minister, is the brother-in-law of Sukhbir Badal.

Majithia and Sidhu is an arch rivals and usually crucify each other in the public levelling serious accusations.

Majithia was recently booked by Congress government in a drugs smuggling case and Punjab and Haryana High Court denied his bail two days back. Majithia on Wednesday demanded that his case should be investigated by a panel of three DGPs—Dinkar Gupta, Prabodh Kumar, and VK Bhawra citing a political vendetta.
