Badals to appear before Faridkot court today in Kotkapura firing case

Chandigarh: Former Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal and former deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal will appear before a court here for the first time in connection with the Kotkapura firing case. They are accused of allegedly conspiring in the Kotkapura firing incident.

The probe team had on February 24 submitted a challan against six persons, including the Badals, in the court. The court had issued summons to the former chief minister and deputy chief minister to appear before it on Thursday, March 23.

The report submitted by the probe team to the court said That Parkash Singh Badal and Sukhbir Singh Badal have received the court summons. The former chief minister and deputy chief minister have also been granted anticipatory bail in these cases.

Meanwhile, it is also learnt that a large gathering of SAD supporters may take place during the appearance of the Badals in the court. According to the police administration, 2,000 to 2,500 SAD workers will gather outside the court.

According to the information received, messages have been sent on WhatsApp to every Akali leader and worker to reach the courts and in view of the possible gathering, some Akali leaders have also inspected the gathering place outside the courts today.

The district police have been put on alert after receiving information that both the parties had reached the court and Superintendent of Police Harjit Singh himself took stock of the security arrangements in the court complex today.
