Army man arrested in connection with killing of four soldiers in Bathinda

New Delhi: An army jawan has been arrested in connection with the firing at Bathinda military station in Punjab. According to the Punjab Police, accused has confessed to his crime. The firing at the military base took place in a mutual fight. Recently, four soldiers were killed in firing at the army station in Bathinda.

An FIR was registered at Bathinda Cantonment police station against two unidentified persons under IPC section 302 (murder) and the Arms Act, police had said.

According to the information, Army Chief General Manoj Pandey informed Defense Minister Rajnath Singh about the whole matter. It was suspected that a missing INSAS rifle and its 28 bullets might have been used in the incident.

According to the FIR lodged by the police, a jawan said he saw two unidentified men in white kurta-pyjamas. Those whose heads and faces were covered and they were leaving the barracks after the shooting. One person was carrying an INSAS rifle while the other was carrying an axe, the jawan said.
