Army launches action against protesters in Sri Lanka

Colombo: Protests have been going on for the past several days in Sri Lanka, which is reeling under economic crisis, where people forced former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to leave the country. After which Ranil Wickremesinghe has now been elected as the new president.

But the protests in Sri Lanka are not halting their violent protests, people have now taken to the streets against Wickremesinghe, alleging that he is close to the Rajapaksa family.

In Sri Lanka, protesters have been camping outside the Presidential Secretariat for the past several days. The work of getting them out of there has now begun. Ranil Wickremesinghe has reportedly ordered the strictest possible action against those indulging in violence and violent protests. In particular, protesters who are seen around the Rashtrapati Bhavan are being driven away. The police have also arrested several people.
