Another Russian national dies in Odisha, third case in 15 days

New Delhi: Another case of death of a Russian citizen has been reported in Odisha on Tuesday. This is the third case in the last 15 days.

The deceased has been identified as 51-year-old Milyakov Sergei. The man’s body was found in a ship anchored at Paradip port in Jagatsinghpur district. The cause of the accident is said to be a heart attack.

Earlier, a Russian MP had died of a heart attack in the state. Now after another death, the mystery is deepening.

The ship was on its way to Mumbai from Chittagong port in Bangladesh via Paradip. Around 4.30 am, the Russian national was found dead in the ship’s chamber. The police have started investigating the case.

Earlier, the case of death of Putin’s critic Pavel Antov was reported in Odisha. It was also alleged in this case that the MP’s viscera was not secured before the funeral and the police did not ask for its samples.

In the last 15 days, three cases of death of Russian nationals have been reported in Odisha. Earlier on December 24, sausage tycoon Antove died after falling from the third floor of the hotel last Saturday.

On December 22, another Russian tourist died of a heart attack in the same hotel. The hotel staff had said that broken liquor bottles and plates were scattered all around the room.

State Director General of Police SK Bansal had said that the death of two Russian nationals, including a Russian MP, was being investigated by a CID and crime branch team.

Bansal said the investigation was being conducted with an “open mind” and said he has not yet found “evidence of any wrongdoing” in the case.
