Angry vaccinated labourer bangs his head on road after being forced to undergo Covid test in Jalandhar

Jalandhar: A labourer has created chaos near Nakodar Chowk after authorities reportedly coerced him to underwent a Covid-19 test and he banged his head over five times on the road in protest against alleged forceful coronavirus sampling here.

The man has been identified as Mahinder Rawat, a resident of Avtar Nagar in Jalandhar.
As per the information, around 12 noon near Lal Ratan Cinema at Nakodar Chowk, a joint team of the police and the Health Department was conducting covid tests of the commuters and team stopped a man and asked him go for an RT-PCR test before crossing the checkpoint. The man was not wearing mask.
He, however, refused to undergo sampling citing that he has been fully vaccinated. As per eyewitnesses, authorities, however, pressurised him to submit his swab sample to the health team.
Annoyed over the behaviour of the authorities, the man banged his head on the road and injured himself in anger. The daily wage labour was riding a bicycle when the police stopped him.
Later, he, also sat on the road as mark of protest and dared the policemen to move him from the spot. He blamed police of beating him and following this angry crowd beat a duty doctor on the spot.
The video of the incident also went viral on the spot.
Health officials and police took him to local civil hospital for first aide treatment.
ASI Gurjit Singh, who was part of the team, said the man was not wearing a mask and when team asked him to undergo test, he refused it and later banged his head several times on the road.
SHO, Police Division-4, Inspector Rajesh Kumar said that authorities did not force anyone to undergo Covid test and further investigations into the matter is underway and action will be taken against those who have taken laws in their hands.
