AAP’s Shelly Oberoi elected as mayor in Delhi

New Delhi: The results for the Delhi mayor’s election have been announced after the completion of the voting process. AAP’s mayoral candidate Shelly Oberoi has defeated BJP’s Rekha Gupta and has been elected as the mayor of Delhi.

She defeated Rekha Gupta by 34 votes. According to details, Oberoi got 150 votes while Rekha Gupta had to be patient with 116 votes. The total number of votes was 266.

The house meeting of the municipal corporation began today to elect the Mayor of Delhi. BJP MPs Hans Raj Hans and Meenakshi Lekhi were among the first to cast their votes.

Meanwhile, BJP’s mayoral candidate Rekha Gupta, AAP’s mayoral candidate Shelly Oberoi and deputy mayoral candidate Mohammad Iqbal, former North Delhi mayor Raja Iqbal Singh and AAP leader Mukesh Goyal, among others, also cast their votes.

Security has been beefed up at the Municipal House and civic centre.

The civic centre is the headquarters of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi( MCD). Security forces have been deployed here. During the House meeting, the mayor, deputy mayor and six members of the standing committee will be elected.
