New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has fielded Shelly Oberoi, who won from East Patel Nagar (ward 86), as its candidate for the mayor’s post. The post of mayor is reserved for women candidates for the first year. The party has nominated Mohammad Iqbal as its candidate for the post of deputy mayor.
She is a councillor from Matia Mahal. The first meeting of the newly elected councillors will be held on January 6. The results of the MCD polls were declared on December 7, in which the AAP won 134 seats out of a total of 250.
