Chandigarh: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday announced its Rajya Sabha member Dr. Sandeep Pathak as co-incharge of Himachal Pradesh (HP) ahead of crucial assembly elections in the state.
Issuing a letter, National Secretary Pankaj Gupta announced that Pathak, who had played a crucial role in the thumping victory of the party in Punjab elections, will now be the co-incharge of HP.
He had helped AAP to build an organisational structure down to the booth level in Punjab, which led the party to win 92 of the 117 Assembly seats. Dr Pathak is a close confidante of party supremo and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, a party spokesperson said.
Pathak, a Rajya Sabha member, scientist and former IIT Delhi professor, also led AAP’s triumph in the Delhi assembly elections. Considering his excellent electoral strategical record, the party is banking on him to strengthen the party base ahead of upcoming assembly elections in the state. the spokesperson said.
He said that the reticent politician and Cambridge PhD holder is termed “Chanakya” of the AAP and the party has now given him the responsibility to form AAP’s government in the hilly state.
AAP workers upbeat over Pathak’s appointment as co-incharge in HP
The spokesman said AAP’s office bearers and workers have been working industriously in Himachal and they exposed the blatant lies of the BJP on various issues including health, education and employment in the state.
Rattled by this, the BJP framed AAP’s in-charge of the Himachal Pradesh election Satyendra Jain in a baseless case.
Amidst all this, AAP played a masterstroke by making Dr Sandeep Pathak the Himachal co-incharge, which will become a conundrum for the ruling BJP party.
Dr Pathak has already been credited with AAP’s historical victories in Punjab and Delhi, now becoming a co-incharge in Himachal, there is a wave of buoyancy and enthusiasm among the AAP workers, the spokesman added.
