Chandigarh: The Akali Dal, an estranged former ally of BJP, today has announced its support to the NDA’s presidential candidate Draupadi Murmu.
The Shiromani Akali Dal will support Draupadi Murmu despite the fact that his party has differences with the BJP, Akali Dal said.
There were differences of opinion on farmers’ issues and the three farm laws. Akali Dal had snapped its alliance with BJP in protest against three-farm bills.
“We continue to have political differences with the BJP be it on the farm laws earlier or the issue of release of the Sikh detenues presently, but we cannot support a candidate propped up by the Congress party which attacked Sri Darbar Sahib & massacred thousands of Sikhs in 1984,” Sukhbir Badal wrote on his Twitter.
