New Delhi : Delhi Police have invoked the stringent National Security Act (NSA) against five accused named in the Jahangirpuri communal violence case during Hanuman Jayanti procession.
The move came after Union Home Minister Amit Shah asked Delhi Police commissioner Rakesh Asthana to take concrete action against accused and rioters in this case to set an example to prevent such recurrence of such incidents in the future.
According to the information, NSA was slapped on main accused Mohammed Ansar, Salim Chikna, Yunus Imam Sheikh, Dilshad and Ahir after a proposal regarding this submitted by crime branch of Delhi.
Meanwhile NSA was used in the national capital around 2009-10, a senior police officer said.
