Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka and Punjab have highest number of deaths due to spurious liquor: NCRB

New Delhi: Nearly 7,000 people have died due to spurious liquor in India in the last six years and the highest number of deaths have been recorded in Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka and Punjab. This information has come from the data of the National Crime Records Bureau.

In the year 2021, 782 people died in 708 incidents related to spurious liquor across the country.

During this period, the highest number of 137 deaths were reported in Uttar Pradesh, followed by 127 in Punjab and 108 in Madhya Pradesh. According to the data, the highest number of 1,322 deaths between 2016 and 2021 were reported from Madhya Pradesh, followed by Karnataka at 1,013 and Punjab at 852.
