London: Indian-origin Suella Braverman has resigned from the post of UK Home Secretary. Braverman, the daughter of a Goa-born father and a Tamil-born mother, was appointed home minister 43 days before British Prime Minister Liz Truss took office at 10 Downing Street. Braverman had earlier met Prime Minister Truss on Wednesday and this is not being seen as a result of disagreements over government policy.
Krasinski Quarteng was sacked last Friday and his successor, Finance Minister Jeremy Hunt, cut the government’s mini-budget on Monday. The move is expected to exacerbate the crisis for Truss’s leadership.
