United Nations: Workplace violence and exploitation are taking place around the world, especially women, young people, migrants and daily wage workers.
This has been revealed in the first attempt to survey incidents of workplace violence and abuse in the world. The survey covered 75,000 employees in 121 countries.
According to this 56-page report of the three organizations, “Workplace violence and harassment are widespread and it is very harmful. It has serious effects on physical and mental health. People lose their source of income and their professional life is also in danger. It also causes economic loss to the workplace and society.”
According to the findings of the survey, one-third of those who faced violence or harassment at the workplace faced at least one type of it. At the same time, 6.3 percent of the people said that they have faced physical, psychological and sexual violence and harassment at the workplace.
