With suggestions of common man, schemes for overall development of state will be prepared: Cheema

Sangrur: Industrialists and traders from four major districts of Malwa region of Punjab including Sangrur, Patiala, Barnala and Malerkotla hailed Aam Aadmi Party led state government’s decision of seeking suggestions from public regarding forthcoming Budget. The industrialists said that seeking suggestions from public regarding forthcoming “Janta Budget” is a historic change. They added that it is for the first time ever that any government has been seeking suggestions from the people for the budget.

While chairing the meeting here in the meeting hall of District Administrative Complex Sangrur, Punjab Finance, Planning, Programme Implementation, Excise and Cooperation Minister Harpal Singh Cheema assured the industrialists that their valuable suggestions will surely be considered in the drafting of the upcoming ‘Janta Budget’. He added that it was the part of the policy of AAP government which enable common people to participate in its important decisions. He added that apart from taking online suggestions, he and his team has continuously visiting several districts from last few days to get the feedback of people from the grass-root level.

During his address to the industrialists, Harpal Singh Cheema said that sadly, previous governments in the state had not taken any concrete steps to address the problems related to the industry, due to which industrial development did not take place properly and if steps for upliftment of industry are not taken now, it could have serious consequences.

The minister said that their government has been committed for the holistic development of Punjab and corruption in any manner will not be tolerated at any level.

“We have already advertised more than 26000 government jobs, besides several other people-friendly decisions have already been taken. Even seeking suggestions from all sections of society in our first ever budget is in itself a revolutionary step,” he added.
