Washington: The US has reacted to the clash between the Indian and Chinese armies in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tawang sector. The Biden administration is pleased that both India and China withdrew immediately after the clash, the White House has said.
During a press briefing, White House Press Secretary Carine Jean-Pierre said the US is closely monitoring the situation and the two sides should use existing bilateral channels to discuss the border dispute.
“We are happy that both sides immediately backed out after the clash. We are closely monitoring the situation and encourage India and China to use existing bilateral channels to discuss the border dispute.”
Soldiers from both sides suffered minor injuries in a clash between Indian and Chinese troops in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tawang sector on Friday.
Indian soldiers gave a befitting reply to the Chinese soldiers. The number of Chinese soldiers injured in the clash is more than the number of Indian soldiers.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said Indian army personnel bravely prevented the Chinese army from violating the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Yangtze area of Arunachal’s Tawang sector on December 9.
Singh said in the Parliament, “I want to tell this House that none of our soldiers have been martyred or seriously injured. I also assure the House that our army can protect the territorial integrity of the country. Our army is ready to deal with any encroachment. I am confident that the House will support the bravery and courage of our armed forces.”
Indian and Chinese soldiers came face to face in Yangtze in Tawang sector of Arunachal Pradesh. During this time, Chinese soldiers clashed with three units of infantry regiments of the Indian Army. The Chinese army’s attempt to change the status quo on the Line of Actual Control was foiled by the Indian Army.
